REVIT MODEL — PRIMARY WORK PRODUCT
PROBLEM
Tengbom inherited the Ersta Sjukhus design in 2017 from Nyréns Arkitektkontor as an IFC export — reverse-engineering another firm's design intent into a production-ready Revit model, on a steep hillside site with 38,000 m³ of rock to blast and listed heritage structures to integrate around.
SOLUTION
I rebuilt the entire Revit model from scratch based on the inherited IFC, then became primary modeler for the building's facade — the ocher brown anodized aluminum cladding system that defines the hospital. I coordinated weekly with electrical, HVAC, and structural teams, and joined fabrication meetings to validate the facade could actually be manufactured and installed as designed.

IMPACT
The completed hospital won Best Healthcare at the Monocle Design Awards 2024 and was a finalist for Årets Stockholmsbyggnad 2024. The facade — refined across dozens of coordination and fabrication meetings — became one of the building's defining features, and the project stands as proof of understanding a BIM model's full lifecycle: from inherited data, through design development, to what actually gets built.
